2027 Paint Colors of the Year: Celery, Grounded and More

There is no single paint color of the year 2027, because each brand names its own. Here are the picks announced so far, as of October 14, 2026:

1. Sherwin-Williams: Celery SW 6421, a soft yellow-green.
2. Behr: Grounded T27-01, an earthy olive.
3. Valspar: Cottage Door 8004-38E, a midtone blue.
4. Glidden: Artifact PPG10-16, a smoky blue.
5. Dutch Boy: Deep Rooted 311-7DB, an earthy orange.
6. Clark+Kensington: Vantage Point 38B-4, a rich midtone blue.
7. Graham & Brown: Rose Earth, a muted mineral pink.
8. Little Greene: Marle 335, a softened warm brown.

Benjamin Moore says its 2027 pick is coming this October. Together, the picks point toward calmer, earthier color: soft greens, midtone blues and warm earth tones.

Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams named Celery SW 6421 their shared 2027 Color of the Year on September 15, 2026. Sherwin-Williams calls it an airy, herbal green with subtle yellow undertones, chosen from its Rewild forecast, and it is sold as HGSW6421 through the HGTV Home line at Lowe's.

Celery comes from the Rewild forecast, a 48-color collection that Sherwin-Williams introduced on July 30, 2026. It is lighter and yellower than the deep, moody greens that have dominated recent years. In a Charlotte home, a light green like Celery suits bright kitchens, bedrooms and breakfast nooks. In a north-facing room it can read grayer, so check it on the wall before you commit.

Pair the Sherwin-Williams Celery paint color with soft whites, natural wood and deeper greens or blues. Sherwin-Williams suggests companions such as White Flour, Potentially Purple, Cosmos, Georgian Bay, Artichoke and Cocoon. Use Celery on walls in bright rooms, and test it first, because light greens can shift in warm or cool light.

Because Celery is a light color, it can look soft or washed out in a dim room, so a sample is worth the small cost. It is usually a wall color rather than a cabinet color. If you want green on cabinets, a deeper olive is the safer starting point.

Behr unveiled Grounded T27-01 on August 26, 2026 as its 2027 Color of the Year, marking the 10th year of its program. It is a brand-new earthy olive green that moves between olive and moss, with subtle brown undertones, and it follows 2026's smoky jade pick, Hidden Gem.

The brown undertone is what separates Grounded from the gray-greens and sages that filled paint decks in recent years. Behr and The Home Depot say it works inside and out; read the brand's announcement for details.

Valspar named Cottage Door 8004-38E its 2027 Color of the Year. The brand describes it as a reflective midtone blue with both warm and cool undertones, a colorful new neutral meant to feel secure and grounding. Valspar suggests pairing it with its warm gray Moon Shot, muted pink Apricot Blush and light wood tones.

A midtone blue like this is a calm choice for bedrooms, bathrooms and home offices, and it pairs easily with white trim and wood furniture.

Glidden named Artifact PPG10-16 its 2027 Color of the Year, a warm, smoky blue that the brand describes as calm and grounded. Glidden suggests it for walls, cabinetry, ceilings and exterior details, and also points to color-drenched bedrooms and studies, where one color covers more of the room.

Artifact sits close to Valspar's Cottage Door in feel, which shows how many brands are leaning toward smoky, easygoing blues this year.

Dutch Boy went with orange. Deep Rooted 311-7DB is a burnished, earth-toned orange with a terracotta-like cast. The brand shows it with creamy whites and related orange tones, but also with blush pink and bright blue, or with a muted blue-gray and forest green, so it can be a bold accent or the anchor of a warmer palette.

Deep Rooted is the warmest of the picks, and it works best in measured doses: an accent wall, a dining room or a front door.

Clark+Kensington chose Vantage Point 38B-4, a rich midtone blue with a slightly softened quality. The shade is sold exclusively at Ace Hardware, which developed the pick with the trend-forecasting firm Colour Hive. With Cottage Door and Artifact, it makes three blues among the 2027 picks, a sign that blue is increasingly treated as a neutral.

Vantage Point is the most saturated of the three blues, so it suits a living room, a library or a feature wall where you want color with presence.

Two UK brands also named warm, earthy picks. Graham & Brown chose Rose Earth, a muted mineral pink with an earthy cast inspired by natural clay pigments, and Little Greene chose Marle 335, a softened warm brown from its new paint collection. Neither is a common US house brand, but both show where warm neutrals are heading.

Graham & Brown positions Rose Earth as an easy partner for warm neutrals, soft sage and cooler tones, while Little Greene suggests Marle for color-drenched rooms with a cozy, cocooning feel.

Benjamin Moore had not announced its 2027 Color of the Year as of October 14, 2026. The brand's own page says the color and its 2027 Color Trends palette are coming this October. We will update this guide with the name, code and a swatch once it is announced. Pantone had not announced its pick either at our latest check.

The 2027 paint color trends point toward calm, earthy color: soft and olive greens, midtone blues, and warm earth tones such as terracotta, brown and muted pink. Brands describe the picks as livable, grounding and easy to layer, which suggests homeowners want warmth and comfort rather than stark neutrals or loud brights.

Counting the picks in this guide, three are blues, two are greens and three are warm earth tones. Color of the year announcements typically start in late summer and run through December, so the picture will keep filling in.

The 2027 paint colors of the year announced so far are Celery, Grounded, Cottage Door, Artifact, Deep Rooted, Vantage Point, Rose Earth and Marle, with Benjamin Moore still to come. They fall into three families: greens, midtone blues and warm earth tones. The table lists each brand, color code, description and a note.

For kitchen cabinet colors 2027, the strongest candidates are the deeper picks. Glidden suggests Artifact for cabinetry, and olives like Grounded or midtone blues like Vantage Point and Cottage Door suit lower cabinets or an island. Light, airy Celery tends to work better on walls beside white or wood cabinets.
